Are you developing people or giving advice

Are you giving advice or developing people?  It's a question I ask many of my groups.  See, if you're giving advice you're not developing people so before you help someone you supervise, ask yourself - is what I'm about to do going to help develop my professional's skills...(If the answer is no - ask a question instead of giving some advice!)
