Are you aware of your moods?

Become aware of your moods, and don't allow yourself to be fooled by the low ones.

Your moods can be extremely deceptive. When you're in a good mood, life looks great.   When you're in a bad mood, life looks unbearable. Here's the catch: Moods are always changing. The truth is, life is almost never as bad as it seems when you're in a low mood.

Are you sometimes fooled by your moods? Do you find yourself to be moody at times?  Is it interfering?  Hey, happens to all of us from time to time.  Problem is - as a manager; you don't get an off day.

Think about the following.

1.     Do you ever consider yourself moody?

2.     How aware are you of your moods?

3.     Which of the following describes you when you're in a bad mood (check all that apply)

____ Irritable

____ Impatient

____ Sarcastic

____ Critical

____ Cynical

____ Indecisive

____ Rushing to judgment

4.     Are others aware of the bad mood you are in?

5.     When you're in a bad mood, how do you express it?

6.     When you're in a bad mood, how long do you stay that way?

7.     List what triggers your bad moods.

8.     List the things that make you happy, and can turn your mood around.

9.     Do you sometimes find yourself in a bad mood for no reason?

10. Do you sometimes make important decisions when you're in a bad mood?

11. Did you ever do or say something while you were in a bad mood that you latter regretted?

12. When I'm in a bad mood, here's how the world seems to me (check all that apply)

____ Work is more difficult

____ Everything becomes a bigger challenge

____ Slight criticisms become huge personal insults

____ Molehills become mountains

____ People's shortcomings become intentional acts of meanness.  Everybody becomes a villain

____ Life's realities (like minor delays or unreturned emails) are taken personally

____ Home or working conditions become impossible to deal with

____ People are unreasonable

13. Have you ever postponed a meeting or deferred making a decision until you were in a better mood? Would you ever consider doing this? Why or why not?

I will do the following next time I'm in a bad mood...
