Make a sincere effort to go the extra mile or don't bother...

The other day I was at the Kinko's. A customer paid for her copies and left the store. Just a few seconds later, the Fed-ex associate realized the customer had left her receipt. He said in a slightly elevated voice, "Ma'am", and looked as if he was preparing to run after her. Then, suddenly, he stopped dead in his tracks, apparently unwilling to expend any further energy. If you're going to go the extra mile for your customers, truly go the extra mile. Don't expend minimal effort and call it a day!
